Welcome... from the President
As the newly elected President of the Fort Worth/ Tarrant County Moms' Club, let me begin by offering a great big HOWDY! Our web site has many interesting pieces of useful information to offer, including events that will take place throughout the year in our monthly club meetings, as well as several fun activities that are planned in College Station. Whether you already have an Aggie, have one thinking about joining our Aggie family or your Aggie has graduated and you would like to stay connected to the camaraderie and traditions offered by our club and this great University, we have something for everyone.
Way back in October of 1922,the Fort Worth /Tarrant County Aggie Moms' Club became the second Moms' Club to be chartered. Today, of the 126 Aggie Moms' Clubs, our club is only one of 15 to have earned the distinction of membership in the Legacy Society, meaning that throughout our history we have given to Texas A&M through scholarships and gifts approximately $175,000. During the 08-09 school year, we raised and presented $15,000 in scholarships to students and gifts to support student organizations.
As you can tell, we take our work very seriously, but the fun we have and the friendships we make are also a very important part of our club. During our monthly meetings, we celebrate with food themes, guest speakers, a silent auction and a chili cook-off. This year, we'll also plan some outside events such as bowling, a progressive dinner, a fundraising cruise to Cozumel and trips to College Station. I have found that one of the best things about joining this unique and wonderful group of women is that I have been able to not only stay connected to my son in College Station and to learn more about the rich traditions of TAMU, but I have made some lasting friendships with women whose path I might not have otherwise crossed. They are dedicated to giving whatever kind of support is needed, whether the need is where to find a doctor for your student in College Station or moral support for something here at home. For these reasons, while we "Continue the Legacy" as set forth by our Past President, I have chosen this year's theme to be
"Growing Aggie Friendships". Come grow with us and share in the enjoyment of our awesome Club!
I hope that you will consider joining us. We meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the Pantego Lions Club at 6:30. I look forward to meeting you and talking about your Aggie!
