Lee Victor Fritze '60

Lee Victor Fritze, beloved husband, son, brother and friend to all, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2003 at the age of 64. He graduated from Edison High School in 1956 and from Texas A&M University in 1960 with a degree in math. He entered the Air Force and served from 1961 until 1981 as a meteorologist with the Air Weather Service and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He obtained a degree in accounting in 1984 from UTSA and later opened his own office as a CPA in San Antonio. He is remembered by all for his loving nature, kindness, gentleness, good humor and his genuine desire to help others. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy D. Fritze. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Joan Harrington Fritze; father, Victor O. Fritze; sister, Joan and husband Larry Crowell and several nieces and nephews. PAUL D. RUSHING died May 20, 2003, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 3, 1937, in Houston, Texas. Paul was a proud member of the Class of '60 from Texas A&M University. He held Bachelors' degrees in Agricultural and Civil Engineering. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. He served in the U.S. Army and in the Army Reserves - attaining the rank of Major. Paul began his professional career in Port Arthur, Texas, where he was the Director of Public Works. Upon moving to Houston he worked for the engineering firm of Turner, Collie & Braden for 19 years. He recently retired from the position of Manager of Engineering for Precinct 3, Harris County. Upon retirement, the Harris County Commissioners' Court honored him with a Resolution declaring June 27, 2002, as "Paul D. Rushing Day in Harris County". After his official retirement, Commissioner Steve Radack further honored Paul by naming a large park in west Houston for him. A dedication ceremony was held on October 4, 2002, when many friends and work associates joined in this memorial celebration. Paul is survived by his mother - Annie Mae, his wife - Marlene, his son - Rhett, his daughter-in-law - Brenda, and grandsons - Zane and Wyatt. In accordance with Paul's wishes no public services will be held. His cremated remains will be dispersed by the family at a future date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that those desiring may make donations in Paul's name to Houston Hospice, 8811 Gaylord, Suite 100, Houston, Texas, 77024. Paul will be remembered as a loved one and friend by his family and many friends, for his lifetime of achievements and dedicated service in the field of engineering, his priceless mentoring of young engineers and his outstanding service to the residents of Harris County.
